I am a cake obsessive, based in West Sussex, UK.

I started off making cakes for family and friends before giving up a proper career in favour of playing with sugar full time. Having worked for two bakeries making their wedding and celebration cakes, I am now looking toward world domination with breaks for coffee and chat.

Rananculus birthday cake - July 2016

Birthday cake for a special lady.

Brandy soaked rich fruit cake, covered with marzipan and finished with fondant icing.  Decorated with sugar rananculus, filler flowers and a message framed by trailing pink jasmine.

Pretty happy with the finished cake, and was very happy with getting a slice of the fruit cake too!

Hardly ever get a slice of my own fruit cake (I'm never at the parties) but I absolutely love it.  It's packed with fruit and cherries and almonds and orange and booze...

 Happy birthday Nikki

Running shoe cake - April 2015

40th birthday cake for a lady with a passion for running.

Vanilla buttercream covered chocolate fudge cake with dark chocolate buttercream filling.

The sides are piped rose swirls in orange and pink. The top I kept smooth because of the toppers.

I used the upside-down method to keep it ultra-smooth and swirled the colours to compliment the sides of the cake.

The number 40 and flowers are wired.

The running shoe is made from a Mexican paste core shape with flowerpaste details.

Happy surprise birthday party Abbi :)

Confetti and lace wedding cake - April 2015

A quick dummy cake as I had plenty of pink confetti pieces left over.

This cake was featured as an editor's choice on Cake Decor this month.  Woohoo!

Blossom cake - May 2014

Simple blossom cake.  Product of my cake covering class at the bakery today. Forgive the board not being covered, it's just a quick demo cake.

This cake was made for The Angel Food Bakery in Brighton's iconic South Lanes,
where the Cake Angels bring Cake Love to the public on a daily basis!

Adventures in buttercream - April 2014

This week we've been having a brain storm about new standard cakes we can have on display.

We're calling this the "fab" cake!

And this one I'm naming the "dib dab" cake.  Maybe we should create a whole series of treat inspired cakes...

Smooth sided ombré cake, first attempt - April 2014

My first try at smooth sided ombré buttercreamed cake.
Not as polished as I'd hoped, but then that's why I did a practice cake.

Just messing about with flower making, don't haul me in front of the rose police!

(I really do need to have a proper go at that though.)

 Upside down buttercream method again

Hmm, far from perfect... some issues to overcome.
I quite like the effect though.
